but sinking in search of the bottom

The Pit -
Just a few measured breaths
and it’s there
when I have doubt I reach for it
and the anchor is firm
it sinks and sinks
the hollow endless
falling is all there is
the sensation of the floor falling
continuous no cessation falling
I don’t know what depression is
death a fantasy I reach for
in the pit
yearn for
in the pit
and I know it’s down there
drawing me entrancing me
and I am curious about the end
my end the end of the fall
to catch death and live the fantasy

Basking in the glow of the moon
is a transitory affair
like a long distance lover
waxing on approach
waning upon departure
Some of us desire a colder light
I await your full glory
wandering the streets at times
wandering the woods at times
wandering the desert
Inspecting calendars to note your arrival
Many dance
some drum
but I walk slowly praying for cloudless skies
to behold your asteroid scarred nakedness
